The Hiwassee College Alumni Association Board of Governors has established an Athletic Hall of Fame.  The inaugural class of fifteen honorees will be inducted at a luncheon on Saturday, April 18.  Both men and women who participated in sports, as well as coaches, at Hiwassee are eligible for induction.

The Athletic Hall of Fame is located in the Rudy Youell Gymnasium.  The Hall space has been renovated and furnished through a generous gift by Mrs. Virginia Webb in memory of her husband, Willard “Big Mitch” Mitchem.  Mr. Mitchem, a 1946 standout on the Hiwassee football and baseball teams, went on to a distinguished career coaching Tennessee high school sports.

The 2010 inaugural class of inductees will consist of six individuals. The number of annual inductees is determined by the Board of Governors. Nominations submitted after February 15^th will be considered for the following year.
