Libby Tipton was recently announced as the Head Volleyball Coach at Hiwassee College. She is 2002 graduate of Hiwassee and played volleyball at William Blount High School and Tennessee Wesleyan College.

Hiwassee College has announced the hiring of Libby Tipton to the Tiger coaching staff effective immediately. Tipton will serve as the Head Coach of the Lady Tigers Volleyball team. She will be in charge of the recruiting, coaching, scheduling, and day-to-day operations of the volleyball program at Hiwassee College.

Tipton returns to Hiwassee College after a four-year hiatus to start a family. She served as Head Volleyball coach from 2005 – 2009 where she built the program from the ground up.

“Those early days were extremely challenging. No one knew we were here and it took a lot of effort to get the word out about Hiwassee Volleyball and cultivate all the necessary relationships with high school coaches. I am excited to be taking over an established program and I am looking forward to coaching a full team,” said Tipton.

Tipton is a 2000 graduate of William Blount High School where she was a member of the volleyball, basketball and track & field teams. She received All Blount County honors for volleyball and All State honors for track and field. Tipton graduated from Hiwassee College in 2002 where she played basketball and soccer. She received a B.A. in Behavioral Science from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 2004 and was a member of the Lady Bulldog volleyball team. Tipton holds a Masters of Education degree from Lincoln Memorial University.

“I am excited for the opportunity Hiwassee College has given me,” commented Tipton. “I am very happy to be back at Hiwassee and I feel honored to once again be a part of the Hiwassee College volleyball program.”
