Hiwassee College recently held its inaugural 5K Tiger Run and Kids’ Fun Run as part of its 2012 Homecoming activities. The Run was open to all members of the community and everyone was encouraged to participate. All proceeds earned from the event were donated to support CASA Monroe.
Alisa Hobbs, Executive Director of CASA Monroe, stated, “CASA Monroe is very excited about the new partnership with Hiwassee College. The 5K Tiger Run is an example of how organizations can come together for a common good. These donations will go toward training new advocates in order to reach our goal of advocating for 100 percent of the abused and neglected children of Monroe County.”
Over 30 individuals participated in the event, each receiving a commemorative T-shirt. $374.00 was raised and donated to CASA Monroe. Todd Littleton, Director of Development and Alumni Affairs for Hiwassee College said, “Although the amount raised isn’t a large sum of money, every cent helps. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of something wonderful that will grow into a major fundraiser that will continue to benefit the children of Monroe County every year.”
