Holcomb Signs with Hiwassee College

Family and coaches surround Tellico Plains High School senior Justin Holcomb as he signed a basketball scholarship with Hiwassee College located in Madisonville, TN. Holcomb will trade in his Bears uniform for one with the Hiwassee College Tigers and play under the direction of Athletic Director and Coach, Rodney Nelson.
Nelson remarked, “I look forward to Justin joining the Tiger basketball team. He has had a great career on the high school level and I anticipate that he will bring intelligence and great effort to Hiwassee. Justin is the type of student athlete we want to attract at Hiwassee College.”
During his high school playing career, Holcomb played the guard position. Shawn Yates, Tellico Plains basketball coach, said, “I am so proud of Justin. He has made tremendous strides as a player and person while here at Tellico Plains. He was a key to our success this past year.”
Holcomb is looking forward to playing basketball at Hiwassee College. In an interview, Justin stated, “I am really excited about playing basketball at Hiwassee and I am looking forward to the pressure that comes at the college level. Pressure has always made me a better player and has pushed me to improve my game, but I have to give all the glory to God for giving me my talent.”
Hiwassee College is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), and plays in the Mid-East Region. Founded in 1849 and associated with the United Methodist Church, Hiwassee College is a liberal arts, residential institution of higher education, providing quality education for all students in an atmosphere that promotes intellectual pursuit and spiritual growth as well as social and personal responsibility.
